The Pierhouse,
Port Appin

My Favourite Place

Hidden away in the quiet village of Port Appin, on the shores of Loch Linnhe, surrounded by the spectacular raw beauty of the magnificent west coast of Scotland, you will find The Pierhouse Hotel and Seafood Restaurant. A friendly and relaxed environment where the emphasis is firmly on great food and service in our 2 AA Rosette restaurant. Nestled between Oban to the south and Glencoe to the north there is plenty to see and do in the local area. Or perhaps just relax in front of the fire watching the ferry and yachts passing by whilst drinking in the views across to the Isle of Lismore and the Morvern peninsula beyond.

I am so excited to be going into our third year of collaboration with my friends at the Pierhouse. We are so proud of the experience we have curated and do hope to be able to welcome you here soon.

FORAGE & FEAST

finding - gathering - harvesting - feasting

We have dreamed up a spectacular set of events combining the wonderful wild resources of the west coast and the exceptional produce from our wonderful suppliers. I will guide you on a beautiful walk exploring nature’s larder whilst Head Chef Michael will be creating a spectacular completely original buffet lunch from an array of foraged and local ingredients.

FORAGE & FEAST

finding - gathering - harvesting - feasting

In 2026 I am delighted to be continuing my collaboration with The Pierhouse with seasonal dates to make the most of every foraging opportunity available throughout the year. While it is true that Spring and Autumn may offer the most variety for foraging, there are always amazing opportunities to benefit from nature’s larder throughout the whole year.

Join me as I take a leisurely stroll while exploring nature’s bounty. There are welcome refreshers and delicious morsels prepared by me from my previous foraging trips as you meander along the coastline and hedgerows. Couple this with expert foraging tuition and a sumptuous buffet lunch featuring a combination of foraged ingredients sitting alongside the best of local produce from our wonderful suppliers, this will truly be an experience to remember.

Spring Tide – 18th April 2026

Taking advantage of the low spring tide, discover the secrets of the intertidal zone. This will be a wonderful introduction to foraging for seaweeds, coastal plants, seafood and other spring highlights as you investigate the beaches and shallow waters of Loch Linnhe. You will need wellies and a pair of scissors for this experience.

Summer Celebration – 11th July 2026

This is a wonderful time of the year to explore the coast and discover nature’s bounty. Taking in the coast and the hedgerows I will lead you in this investigation of the saltmarsh, edible flowers and late greens.

Autumn Harvest – 5th September 2026

Search the coast and forest to make the most of nature’s bounty during the traditional harvest season. Highlights will include nuts, seeds and berries along with a focus on fungi and

edible trees.

£120 pp including drinks, tasters and lunch.

Please call the Pierhouse reservations team on 01631 730 302 to book your place.

We can also host private foraging sessions for small groups. If you would be interested in this do please let us know and we will be able to check availability.
